At I high level, the things that energize me the most (roughly in order):

• Invention
• Solving problems; both abstract and through building
• Self-use
• Feeling (and being) highly productive
• Mentoring and connecting others with opportunity
• Seeing a colleague enthusiastic/energized
• Collective success
• Public recognition

Detractors:

• Falling behind, feedback loop
• Poor communication, thwarted autonomy
• The difficult parts of management
• Poor performers on the team
• Lack of real ownership/outcomes
